REVIEWS
Written by Jill Rubalcaba and Eric H. Cline Elegant illustrations mimicking Greek red-figure pottery are lovely and appropriate... this book will inspire young people interested in solving the mysteries of the past. After a brief (though ponderous) introduction comes a graceful 20-page retelling of how, according to Homer, the Greeks fought at Troy. Elegant red-and-black illustrations every few pages echo Greek vases, part of the overall attractive book design.
The ABC Book of American Homes
(Charlesbridge Publishing, June 15, 2008) A is for Apartment. B is for Beach House. C is for Cajun Cottage. This alphabetical survey spans over three centuries of architecture, highlighting the diversity of American homes. Whether your house is made of wood, snow, or even junk, and whether you live on land, on water, or in a tree, a house becomes a home when you share it with people you love. Reviews and Articles "Broad spaces, small figures, precise architectural details and clean, straight lines give Brannen's art in this alphabetical gallery of housing an elegant simplicity. "
